The California Lemon Law offers protection for consumers who have purchased a vehicle with defects that significantly impact its use, value, or safety. If your car or truck has persistent issues that haven’t been resolved after a reasonable number of repair attempts, you might be entitled to relief under this law.

In California, the Lemon Law presumption outlines specific criteria for determining if a vehicle qualifies as a lemon:

  • Serious Safety Defects: At least two repair attempts are required if the defect poses a risk of serious injury or death.

  • Persistent Defects: If the same issue has been repaired four or more times without resolution, it may qualify as a lemon.

  • Extended Downtime: If the vehicle has been out of service for a total of 30 days (non-consecutive) for warranty-covered repairs, it may also meet the criteria.
